"你 是 谁 ?" (You are who?) asks this poster showing Chinese president Hú Jǐntāo. I don't know who put it up (or why), but its location near the birthplace of Karl Marx ensures that a lot of Chinese tourists will see it.
If I hadn't changed the adress of this blog like a million times already I'd just go ahead and take that dreaded word "daily" out entirely. Instead I'm just going to propose a change in the meaning of the word itself...

I actually saw the "Feuerwehr" (fire-fighters) in action two days ago, when three of those big fire trucks were parked outside a house near where I live, with firemen all over the place. I later found out that it had been a false alarm; someone fell asleep with the oven on and called them when he awoke to the kitchen filled with smoke. In the end, all the 21(!) deployed firemen had to do was turn off the oven and open a few windows. Better safe than sorry, I guees.
