Photographs of Trier (Trèves), Germany's oldest city (2,000+ years).

Thursday, June 19, 2008

I'm sorry to say this, because I only started posting again a few months ago and I really think I was able to improve my photography over the last few weeks, but I won't be able to continue Trier Daily Photo for at least two months.

Take care, subscribe to the feed to be notified of new posts, whenever they may come.

Ich wünsche mir ...

Ich wünsche mir, dass es nie aufhört. (I wish this will never end.)

Werbefläche mieten. (Rent advertising space.)

Again, social commentary may be read into this.

basketball hoop

This may be the highest basketball hoop of the city, on Markusberg, just a few meters from a long, steep way down. I would not want to lose the ball there! ;)

Father and Son

And another sculpture, this one on a building just opposite from the Porta Nigra.

I'll let this sculpture on Pferdemarkt speak for itself...

Who's watching who?

I'm sure there is some social commentary to be read into this photo... I just thought it was a neat thing to photograph! :)

Am I the only one who likes to watch birds interact and think of possible conversations they might have?

Part of the afore-mentioned (damaged) stairs.

Sidenote: If you liked the photos I took at the fair last week, you can see all of them and some more on the Flickr set: Trierer Volksfest 2008.

If there's one place where you wouldn't want to have "Treppenschäden" (staircase damage), it's this one, about 162 Meters (about 530 feet) above the river.

Be sure to click on the photo to get the bigger version where you'll see much more detail in the background. I'll show you a photo of the stairs in question tomorrow.

Long photo: Römerbrücke

Shot from way up at the top of the Markusberg. I love the juxtaposition of the traffic with the sound of the birds around me.

I don't remember ever being really scared by a haunted house ride, but I still think they can be a lot of fun!

Chair-O-Planes chairs

I've found that there are many different names for this ride around! I know it as Kettenkarussell (chain carousel). What is it called where you are from?

Knolli food stand

"Knolli" (from German Knolle: spud) is a potato-themed food stand at the Europa-Volksfest (Europe fair), which is currently going on at the Messepark. I'll post more photos of the fair (which I don't think I'll attend during opening hours) in the following days.
